Do you think of yourself as intense, sensitive, or different?
Are most jobs and social environments at odds with your values or comfort?
Do you fear that you are years behind on developing a coherent identity or direction?
If yes, it is likely that the standard user manual for life did not work particularly well for you, and you feel like there must be more that you can do to create meaningful and positive impact on your life and the world around you.
Sometimes, though, it feels hard to find direction in a society where it is easier to conform than to stand out. I work with people who are feeling stuck in their personal, educational or work lives to create forward momentum by finding strengths, focus, and direction.
I especially work on helping you restore a sense of being in control of your responses, develop better ability to self-advocate and handle conflict, and grow social skills and confidence which will allow you to make your life work better.
So, what is coaching? Coaching is like a mirror and a guide.
Albus Dumbledore: “Let me explain. The happiest man on earth would be able to use the Mirror of Erised like a normal mirror, that is, he would look into it and see himself exactly as he is. Does that help?”
Harry Potter: “It shows us what we want… whatever we want…”
Albus Dumbledore: “Yes and no. It shows us nothing more or less than the deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts.”
Now imagine if this mirror could aid with forward momentum.
Mirroring in this context means, accurately reflecting back the best of who you are and could be. Done right, seeing what is possible excites you and inspires you to focus on the quest, which is the ultimate fuel for getting through hard and less-exciting parts! It also provides crucial positive feedback around accomplishment that often go unnoticed, providing further validation, energy and momentum.
Mirroring and guidance is what a good coach can do for you.
Coaching is about questions, not answers.
Being coached is not about getting advice or being told what to do.
Coaching is asking hard questions that help you go where you want to be.
Every session we would work together on what you most want to fix or make progress on. You get a safe, judgement-free zone.
There are the 3 major areas to work on in coaching:
Strengths, Connection, Direction
- For those who are unsure of themselves, coaching can help with identifying strengths and developing confidence.
- For those who are isolated, coaching can help work on social skills and find environments that match your interests and personality.
- For those who are looking for direction, coaching can help think through possibilities and figure out concrete next steps for reaching your goals.
While there are no guarantees, and often course correction is required, it is often easier to do new and hard things with an experienced ally. Please use the form below to contact me with questions or to schedule a free session.
